Abstract:
An overview of total eclipses is given that have been observed and recorded
by astronomers in Europe since antiquity till 20th century. A particular
attention is payed to the computations that Kepler carried out in Prague to
predict the eclipse 1605, further to some eclipses of 18th century that have
been computed and observed by French astronomers (Madame Nicole-Reine Lepaute)
and to the book (Elementa Eclipsium ... 1816 -- 1860) that was published by
F.I.C. Hallaschka in Prague 1816.
