The nature of the light variability of chemically peculiar stars

ABSTRAKT / ABSTRACT :

A fraction of hot stars of the upper part of the main sequence shows
enhanced or reduced abundances of elements heavier than hydrogen.
These stars are called chemically peculiar stars. Chemically peculiar
stars show variability, which is modulated by their rotation.
We discuss the nature of the light variability of these stars,
which is caused either by the surface abundance spots or by matter
trapped in their corotating magnetospheres.
