This, naturally, leads to investigation of hyperbolic orbits calculated from meteor observations. However, it is not unusual to find many hyperbolic events in individual meteor databases, in many cases about 10 percent out of all orbits contained within the selected database. This percentage reflects the quality of the data within the database. In general, these hyperbolic orbits are considered to be a result of errors. Continuing our previous work on the DIMS automatic pipeline system and data processing, we will take a look at the sample of meteor data taken by the DIMS cameras, their orbits calculated through automatic pipeline developed for the DIMS project and we will closely discuss the hyperbolic events and their quality within the sample by comparing the results obtained from the automatic pipeline with results from manual re-processing.
