Each article-type manuscript (including those from the conference proceedings) submitted for publication in the Contributions of the Astronomical Observatory Skalnate Pleso (CAOSP) journal must contain exclusively original research results. It should not contain any information that has already been published without clear reference to the original source.
Above all, this is plagiarism that constitutes unethical behavior and is not acceptable to the CAOSP journal in any of its form. Plagiarism includes copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source, even from own publications (the so-called "self-plagiarism"), without giving any credit to the original source. For example, (i) every already published result must be properly cited, (ii) the same concerns about copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s paper, to the discussion of previously published ideas, to claiming results from research conducted by others, (iii) the reused text that is copied from another source must be enclosed in quotation marks and cited, (iv) each figure or image may only be reproduced with permission and must be cited in the figure caption.
Each manuscript submitted to CAOSP should contain a sufficiently detailed description of the data and methods used so that other researchers can replicate the work. Therefore, CAOSP editors require that all analyzed data and/or the software used (unless they are publicly available) be published electronically within the given article on the CAOSP WEBsite. Published Author instructions give a detailed description of how to prepare such data, and what tools to use. All published material is accessible on the WEB free of charge and we are committed to its availability in this form in the future as well. The integrity of all provided documents, articles, and data is ensured by appropriate tools (hash sums).
The editors of the CAOSP journal enforce a rigorous peer-review process together with strict ethical rules, which will ensure the publication of only high-quality scientific works. If they indicate during the peer-review process any form of plagiarism, the manuscript may be rejected. Also, simultaneous submission of manuscripts to more than one journal is not tolerated. As a part of the review process, the CAOSP editors strive to avoid any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in relation to the content of the manuscript or its authors and the potential reviewer.
Only the author(s), editors, and referees are included in the referee process. Any information about the author(s), manuscript, or referee process in the CAOSP is never provided to a third party.
All submitted complaints will be presented to the editorial board and if it is proven to be justified, we will arrange for a remedy as soon as possible and inform the complainant about it.
We expect that all authors as well as reviewers will also adhere to CAOSP's ethical principles in the review process of manuscripts submitted for publication in CAOSP.
